Life is so good – a poem by P.K. Odendaal – May 2019

Life is so good if it's well understood

If not, we are to blame if we suffer the shame
As free will empowers before it devours
If we take the time to do something sublime.

Never knowing how much our souls are in touch
With heavenly things which happiness brings.
Waiting for inspiration with pious adoration
From universe and earth giving our ideas birth
As we go through the notions and violent emotions.

Just to end up at last with images of the past

Which inhibits our stand to know beforehand
Where each path shall lead if we don't intercede,
waiting with patience and humble obeisance.

To solve life's equation with due admiration

Hoping to gain from some other domain
Where knowledge supreme is the ultimate dream
Breaking fetters that bind and freeing the mind
So we better can find new ways to be kind.
