Wonder…ful – a poem by P.K. Odendaal – November
2018
As I sit here and ponder
on the present and the yonder
I wonder how I came into this serious game
not looking for fame, nor looking for shame
And how life has a way of making us pay
For our sins and waste committed in haste
Or wealth and pleasure enjoyed at leisure
I have seen so much grief in my disbelief
And I have shed many tears due to my fears
But the place I am at won't let me forget
That sorrow and pain will always remain
For opportunities lost and left at great cost
And delusions sought which were dearly bought
I wonder how I came into this serious game
not looking for fame, nor looking for shame
And how life has a way of making us pay
For our sins and waste committed in haste
Or wealth and pleasure enjoyed at leisure
I have seen so much grief in my disbelief
And I have shed many tears due to my fears
But the place I am at won't let me forget
That sorrow and pain will always remain
For opportunities lost and left at great cost
And delusions sought which were dearly bought
Not intending the same
but playing the game
Of hide and seek week by week
Until in the end I was not able to blend
Delusion and shame for the sake of my name.
Of hide and seek week by week
Until in the end I was not able to blend
Delusion and shame for the sake of my name.
