Spiritual fiction – A secular view of things spiritual
Spiritual
fiction – A secular view of things spiritual – by P.K. Odendaal - May 2026
Science
fiction is a genre, so why can’t spiritual fiction not be a genre as well? And
... if it is not an accepted genre, I am accepting it now as an accepted genre
... at least for me it is.
For me it is
also clear that there is a spiritual domain, as there is a physical domain, and
we are really spiritual beings, whilst our physical body is only a temporary
container.
Spiritual
beings exist forever, albeit in different forms, bodies and places.
In fact,
what we see in the physical domain may not be physical things at all and after
all. It may be only images made by certain types of electromagnetic waves.
Those of us
who see visions in broad daylight, as I do, will know that things that we touch
can in an instant change or alter its looks into something else.
Planet earth
is a spiritual hospital, established only on one planet in the universe, for
the birth, healing and mentoring of new and existing spirits.
I strongly
and sincerely believe in Heaven and Hell and that “holy” people go to Heaven
when they die, and that “evil” people go to Hell when they die.
Let us say a
person on earth has lead an evil life and goes to Hell. Only his spirit with an
accompanying evil body goes to Hell – not his or her earthly body. Similarly, a
holy person goes to Heaven with a holy body.
What then
happens to the evil spirit with evil body?
Let me as an
amateur scientist explain.
When I study
the Universe, I conclude that the whole physical Universe consists, in its
physical form, only of energy in various forms and phases and that everything
is in recycling mode, without exception.
Gaseous
nebulae give birth to stars, as our sun, which in turn may or may not gather
moons from the accretion of debris circling the star. Stars burn out and
explode in super novae forming a gaseous nebula – and the process start all
over again in what is known as an adiabatic process.
We, not only
as humans, but all animate and inanimate things are stardust.
What are we,
as humans, better or different from stardust? Only in one aspect. We have
everlasting souls or spirits.
As we loose
our earthly bodies, we are incarnating into heavenly or hellishly bodies, and
from hellishly bodies, we will need to incarnate again into earthly bodies to
be reborn physically and healed spiritually. This process may happen over and
over again until we grow to become heavenly bodies.
There should
then be millions of people walking on the surface of earth who are not here for
a first visit, as some of us experience this phenomenon often with certain
people. Call it Deja Vu if you will.
This is also
known as re-incarnation.
Please do not take any of my assertions or
beliefs as gospel, as it is not. These are my secular thoughts and beliefs,
though they are not unsubstantiated.
“Philosophy is not a subject that everyone understands. I do understand this explanation because I have an excellent philosophy teacher. I will not say that I agree with reincarnation, but it certainly gives one something to think about. I also believe that we have a body that will eventually deteriorate, but that our soul and spirit will go to heaven (preferably) or hell.”
